and open water swimmers. Marking the revolution in high performance
wetsuit technology, the Project X Wetsuit was only bound to
cause a stir. Bringing together, 2XU's revolutionised titanium

the forearms to trap water and maximise distance per stroke,
the roll bar and propulsion panels for improved buoyancy grip
and power, and even more additions ensures that the Project
X Wetsuit is guaranteed to make you the fastest out of the water.
The TCR show provided the opportunity to try the wetsuit and
be one of the first in the UK to get their hands on it.
After a hectic first day, retailers and the TCL team enjoyed
the chance to wind down with a lovely meal and a few well earned
tipples, at the 22O Triathlon Awards. Mingling with stars such
as Dave Scott and Chrissie Wellington, the awards ceremony was
a fantastic evening for all. Congratulations go out to Alistair
Brownlee and Chrissie Wellington, fully deserving recognition

The TCL team were incredibly pleased to receive the award of

increasing number of athletes choosing Newton Running Shoes

Cervélo TestTeam
will ride in Bont cycling shoes this season
La
Chaux-de-Fonds - 26 January 2010 - Cervélo TestTeam is
pleased to welcome Bont Cycling as a Cervélo TestTeam
Partner.
"We're very excited to start a partnership with Bont Cycling.
They have a very innovative production technique that creates
a light, stiff and comfortable shoe," said Gerard Vroomen, Cervélo
co-founder. "It also provides the perfect interface with the
Speedplay pedals used by Cervélo TestTeam, as the four-bolt
system and thin sole puts the cleat and therefore the pedal
spindle closer to the rider's foot."
"Bont Cycling is proud and excited to become an official partner
of Cervélo TestTeam," said Steven Nemeth, Chief Executive
Officer, Bont Cycling. "Our objective is to develop the best
possible cycling shoe providing both the competitive and enthusiast
cyclist with a cycling shoe offering true anatomical fit and
comfort combined with unparalleled performance."
"I first heard about Bont cycling shoes from other riders who
said they were really good," said Thor Hushovd, Cervélo
TestTeam. "I'm a sprinter and need stiff shoes, so I wanted
to try the stiffest shoes on the market. Then I ended up with
the Bont. The initial fit of the shoes was not perfect, but
as the whole shoe can be heat moulded we easily shaped them
to my personal foot's shape and they are now 100%. Now all my
effort comes down to the pedal, and I don't lose any watts because
this shoe - doesn't move. Another big difference from other
brands is that when you first put them on, you don't have to
tighten them, either before a sprint, or if they get wet! I'm
looking forward to my first sprint with Bont!"
While most shoe companies use a two-piece manufacturing method,
simply gluing together essentially an upper and a base, Bont
cycling shoes utilize a true monocoque construction. Bont cycling
shoes are made from the inside out with each layer of carbon
hand-laid according to stress point and the upper base laminated
to the carbon chassis with an epoxy resin. This process provides
a unique one piece anatomical fit.
Based in Australia, Bont's success during the past 35+ years
has been their total commitment to innovation. Not satisfied
to simply re-invent the same core product with a slightly altered
look, Bont continues to develop products that set industry standards.
Triathlon Consultants Become UK Distributor
for Bont Cycling Shoes
Triathlon
Consultants Ltd, the award winning distribution company are
pleased to announce that they have accepted the offer to become
the sole distributors for Bont Cycling Shoes within the UK.
Although relatively new to the cycle industry, Bonts heritage
in designing performance footwear has been utilised to produce
a cutting-edge range of performance cycling shoes at the fore-front
of technology.
Their rapid growth and success is illustrated by the increasing
number of pro riders, not only wearing the shoes but winning
major events. Riders such as Michael Rogers, Roger Hammond and
Thor Hushovd are just a few of the many riders who are benefitting
from Bont cycling shoes. The recently announced partnership
with the Cervelo Pro Test Team, is a further acknowledgement
of Bont's acceptance by the pro peloton.
Mike Tree's, director of Triathlon Consultants Ltd quotes, "I
am delighted to have been offered this great opportunity to
be involved with such a fast growing brand and we look forward
to establishing Bont as one of the top cycling and triathlon
shoes within the UK".

Sichel celebrates World Record with race in Finland
Orkney
ultra distance runner, William Sichel (56), is celebrating the
ratification of his first World Age Group Record of 466.65 miles
in 6 days, set in Athens last April.
This means that his performance satisfies all the criteria laid
down to ensure that the achievement was genuine ie the course
measurement has been checked, timing procedures approved, lap
counting analysed and all to the satisfaction of the World Governing
Body of Athletics.
"It's an amazing feeling to have done an athletic performance
that no one else has ever achieved!"
This week William will travel to the Helsinki suburb of Espoo
to compete in the "Endurance" Indoor 24 hour race, which will
take place from Saturday January 30th - Sunday 31st. This will
be William's first visit to Finland and his first ever indoor
24 hour event.
A capacity field of 130 runners will start at 10a.m., UK time,
lapping a 390 metre indoor track in the Esport Centre.
This event will be William's last 'long run' before March's
1000 Mile World Cup race in Athens.
"The timing of this race is just right in my preparations for
the epic run in March. I'm looking forward to a good work out
in a competitive race and can then fine tune the final few weeks
before I start in Athens on March 15th."
In order to allow for more people to be involved in the race,
William's web site www.williamsichel.co.uk will be regularly
updated during the event.

TCL Team domination at Maidenhead Marlin's Swimarathon
The
TCL team were out in full force on a chilly January morning
for the annual Swimarathon at Maidenhead swimming pool. With
new additions to the team, Ryan and Craig, TCL domination was
on the cards. As always our competitive streak was shining through,
which meant we were never going to give up without a fight.
Starting strong with good times, I think we even surprised ourselves.
However, after the loss of our fastest member Mike Tree's to
the keen beans in the neighbouring lane things were never were
going to be the same. A surprise fastest swim came from our
apparent 'non swimmer', Ryan, just proving that it's obviously
not always down to the stroke technique!
An overall, pretty impressive 2nd place, meant that the TCL
team could all enjoy a well deserved large Latte and a muffin
as a post swim treat.
Sticky's 1,000 Mile Parkour Challenge
As
keen amateur or professional athletes, we all have obstacles
to overcome, some small and some the size of buildings...enter
one of the UK's leading urban athletes Johnny 'Sticky' Budden
- a man who literally overcomes building-sized obstacles for
a living. Now 'Sticky' faces his biggest challenge and needs
YOUR help!
You've almost certainly seen Johnny on television in numerous
commercials thrilling us with seemingly impossible leaps and
jumps that would terrify most of us just to watch. Now Sticky
is facing his biggest challenge a 1,000 mile parkour run from
Northern Scotland to Paris to raise money for Motor Neurone
Disease. "What I do is incredibly physical; I use every muscle
in my body to practice parkour" explains Johnny. "When I came
across MND and read what it does to the body, how it takes away
people's ability to move, I knew I wanted to help raise as much
money and awareness for the MND Association as possible."
Johnny will be the first person to use parkour to get from the
most northern part of the British Isles to Paris. Parkour is
the physical discipline of training to get from point A to point
B as fluidly and efficiently as possible by overcoming any obstacle
within one's path by adapting one's movements to the environment.
"I live for pushing myself and spreading happiness through parkour.
Whilst there will be a lot of endurance running (a marathon
a day) I will be spending time in cities, training with kids
and locals before continuing my run."
Learn more about Johnny's amazing challenge at www.stickyparkour.com
and follow his progress by GPS.
Please help Johnny with a donation through JustGiving at: www.justgiving.com/Johnnybudden
Triathlon Consultant's Managing Director Mike Trees said "this
is an amazing challenge and we wish Johnny the best for his
journey and are proud to be associated with him".

Robson Green's Wild Swimming Adventure
In 2XU Wetsuit
UK
TV star Robson Green sported an infamous 2XU E:1 wetsuit in
his latest two part documentary for ITV. 'Wild Open Water Swimming'
featured Robson Green dipping his toe in some seriously extreme
open water swim conditions. The journey began in a rather tame
lido but he swiftly progressed to scary adventures, freezing
conditions and natural whirlpools in the ice cold seas of Scotland.
The series was an epic quest and a fantastic program for all
the family to watch.
The first of the two part series saw Robson hitting the waters
close to his North East home in the River Tyne. Temperatures
were just a little colder than his regular training lake Liquid
Leisure, where he began his training during the warmer summer
months (www.openwaterswimming.co.uk).
The near freezing Tyne conditions meant Robson was out almost
as quickly as he went in!
In part two Robson left behind the chlorine pools and continued
on his epic journey to colder, fresher waters. Throughout the
adventure he meets a diverse number of amazing open water swim
enthusiasts that should motivate even the most fair weather
swimming fan amongst us. Inspired by the recent loss of his
father, Robson's ultimate goal is to swim to the Holy Island
off the North East Scottish coast in his memory. For the last
challenge Robson braves the cold waters in an impressive non-wetsuit
swim against the tide and survives to tell the tale.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2009/dec/09/robson-green-wild-swimming-russell-brand
During this epic open water swim series Robson Green's 2XU's
E:1 (Elite) wetsuit provided him with a multitude of benefits,
some more obvious than others.
For buoyancy the E:1 wetsuits has 5mm 39 cell Yamoto neoprene
to support the core body mass in the water. 39 cell neoprene
has a specific gravity = 0.13, the most buoyant on the market.
By keeping the body out of the water (less submerged surface
area) Robson benefits from better hydrodynamics. With water
providing 10x as much drag as air, the improved hydrodynamics
make a huge difference to overall speed. Robson could have done
with this on his last swim against the tie to Holy Island.
Still on the hydrodynamics, the E:1 wetsuit has nano SCS (silicon
coating) which means the dynamic friction coefficient is only
a fraction of regular neoprene. Less friction equals greater
speed though the water and 2XU's one piece design from the neck
to the knee further reduces drag to increase Robson's speed
through the water.
In open water swimming, wetsuit flexibility is paramount. It
is the underarm panel which is key in dictating the degree of
shoulder and arm movement, releasing the swimming stroke action
and allowing a complete extension along the latissimus dorsi.
On the E:1 both the neoprene and inner lining materials have
been selected for maximum flexibility - 520% Stretch Neoprene
with 4 way stretch. Complemented by the highly flexible hollow
polyester fibre lining means Robson has a much freer stroke
and less resistance to the overall power output.
To further increase Robson's power, the rough capsule texture
on the anterior forearm (rather than the smooth SCS coating
on the other panels) grips the water with greater surface areas
and enhances the overall power of Robson's catch. This is nothing
to do with his fishing adventures!
We are sure anyone inspired by the program will be pleasantly
surprised by the joys of open water swimming and we hope they
follow in Robson's footstep by choosing a first-class OWS wetsuit
from 2XU to further enhance their experience.
LONDON RUNNING SHOW 28TH AND 29TH
NOVEMBER
The
festive period might only be round the corner but the TCL team
were working as hard as ever at the Running Show in London.
Whilst all hands were on board to help in the warehousing relocation
during the week, the weekend brought a successful event.
Bringing a fantastic crowd of people through the doors, from
beginners to ultra marathon runners, the Running Show was a
great event. The Running show providing us with the first outing
with the new Newton Sir and Lady Isaac! Providing a valuable
opportunity for Newton lovers and novices to sample the shoes,
they received some very positive feedback. Appealing to runners
of any ability, the New Isaac is a necessary training tool that
no runner should be without.
Not keen on standing still, the TCL team were happy to be kept
on their toes with 2XU compression being very much in demand.
With another successful event in the bag, the TCL team are incredibly
excited for what 2010 will bring.
Merry Christmas to all.
The Children's Mutual Tunbridge
Wells Half Marathon Sunday 28th February 2010 - 10am Entries
filling fast!
Triathlon
Consultants are proud to sponsor the 2010 Tunbridge Wells Half
Marathon. If you want to take part in the award winning Tunbridge
Wells Half Marathon, you'd better get your skates on! Entries
are filling up fast and are up 200% on last year at this time
and there are only 2500 slots available.
Organised by volunteers with all profits to charity - As winner
of the Runner's World 'Most Improved Event 2009' award, and
now in it's 27th year, the race continues to go from strength
to strength due to the hard work and enthusiasm of volunteer
organisers and local club, Tunbridge Wells Harriers.
All profits from the race are also donated to carefully selected
charities and this year the event is supporting the Cardiomyopathy
Association (www.cardiomyopathy.org) and premature birth charity,
Ickle Pickles (www.icklepickles.org).
Dame Kelly Holmes to start the race - The organisers are also
thrilled to welcome local Olympic champion, Dame Kelly Holmes
as race ambassador who will be starting the race and supporting
all the runners and a team of 15 beginners taking on their first
half marathon for her new charity Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust
(www.dkhlegacytrust.org).
Fast, hilly course and closed roads - The course is one of the
most picturesque in the South East, starting and finishing in
the main town of Tunbridge Wells, the route meanders out into
the pretty villages of Kent and takes in some fantastic views
over the rolling countryside. Organisers have the safety and
comfort of runners in mind and have once again implemented road
closures, meaning the race will be mostly traffic free. The
course itself is challenging with a tough one-mile climb coming
around 7.5 miles into the race (fondly known as 'Heartbreak
Hill') but is still surprisingly fast with many runners posting
personal best times, reflected in the course record of 65:33
set in 1999 by local runner Barry Royden.
2010 could be the year to see some new course records however,
as the race has been selected to incorporate the SEAA Half Marathon
championships. To be eligible to take part in the SEAA Champs
you must be able to run (and prove) sub 1:25 for women and 1:12
for men.
Race Director says 'we listen!' - Race Director, Sarah Russell
commented 'As runners we understand what people want when they
go to a race. If the feedback is to get more toilets, we get
more toilets. We listen to what runners want and do our best
to put it in place. We are really proud of how the race has
grown but we will always keep the numbers down and not get greedy.
2000 runners on the road is the absolute limit and our goal
is to keep it small and friendly yet brilliantly organised and
good value.
We couldn't do it without the support of the community, sponsors
and local organisations however and we are extremely grateful
to all our sponsors, The Children's Mutual as title sponsor,
and also Sainsburys, Spire Healthcare, Taut, Strathmore, 2XU
and Newton shoes, Hotel du Vin, The Courier Newspaper Group,
Lifestyle motors, Sweatshop and StrideUK'.
Fancy Dress Competition Hotel du Vin and The Courier Newspaper
Group are running an exciting competition for the best fancy
dress runner. The 'Best Fancy Dress Runner' (as judged by The
Courier) will win a meal for 2 with wine at the award winning
luxury Hotel du Vin in Tunbridge Wells. Find out more at www.twharriers.org.uk
Subsidised Childcare - There are two options - a creche for
younger children (3 months - 6 years) and sports activities
for the older ones (6-12 years). Subsidised by the race, the
cost is only £5 for a 4 hour period and only available
to those who have entered the race.
'As a competitive runner, a mum of two children and a husband
who also runs, we always used to argue over who gets to take
part in events' says race director Sarah Russell. 'So we brought
in the idea of childcare for the Half Marathon, so parents can
take part in the event and leave their kids in safe hands at
race HQ having a great time - meaning everyone is happy'.
Best value race ever? - Every runner gets: More Mile

2XU at the Sparks Charity Fashion
Show
 This
exclusive, fun event offered a unique glimpse into the world
of fashion with its combination of style, glamour, celebrity
models and top designer names.
The pictures here show Mark Foster (World Record Holder and
Champion Swimmer) and Natalie Pinkham (Sports TV Presenter)
wearing 2XU.
It was also a chance to see some of Sparks' celebrity supporters
such as Gaby Logan, Anton Du Beke, Camilla Dallerup, Mark Foster
and Natalie Pinkham.
With many attendees from all industries, the fashion show was
not only for entertainment but to also raise money and highlight
the great work the people at Sparks do.
Sparks is a children's medical research charity. They fund research
across the whole spectrum of paediatric medicine with the goal
that all babies should be born healthy and stay healthy."
Sichel takes first steps to 1000 Mile World Cup with Highland
Training Camp
Orkney's world record holding ultra marathon runner, William
Sichel (56), takes his first steps towards next March's 1000
Mile World Cup race in Athens, with a 3 day Training Camp in
the Highlands from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th November.
Based in Aviemore, William and his crew man, Alan Young from
Dundee, use the idea of long weekends in the Highlands like
a 'boot camp' to toughen up prior to challenging races. William
last used a similar idea in June which worked very well.
"These few days away get me out of my comfort zone, away from
home comforts and allow me and my crew to focus on the challenging
requirements of multiday races."
The days are structured so that William runs up to 8 hours a
day, with support from the back-up car. Race day nutrition is
rehearsed and clothing tested under the duress of heavy training.
Overnights are in a bunkhouse in Aviemore.
Being based in Aviemore gives a wide choice of training territory
including the whole of the Speyside Way and more hilly areas
around Loch Morlich, the Badaguish Outdoor Centre and up towards
the Ski Centre.
Whilst on the Scottish mainland William also gets a chance to
meet sponsors and media contacts.
The !000 Mile World Cup takes place in Athens, Greece from March
15th - 31st 2010. The last 1000 mile, non-stop, race that anyone
finished was in 1999.
The last time a British runner completed a 1000 mile race was
in 1991.
If William manages to complete the race in the 16 day time limit,
he will be the oldest British person ever to have done so.
William is grateful to sponsors Loganair and myProtein
TCL at the Metro Ski and Snowboard Show
The TCL team spent five chilly days within the Olympia in London.
The Metro Ski and Snowboard show was a fantastic event, with
a wide variety of different retailers. From a Yagermeister bus
to a granny knitting hats, the Ski show had it all.
The event lead to a few runny noses but overall was a great
experience. Providing novices to expert skiers and snowboarders
alike, 2XU Compression went down a storm. Allowing you to ski
harder, longer and recover faster so that you're ready to hit
the slopes the next day, 2XU Compression is crucial kit that
no skier should be without.
TCL at the Cycle Show
The 8th to the 11th October saw the TCL team in full force at
the Cycle Show in Earls Court London. Visited by commuters to
elite athletes, such as Alistair Brownlee and Richard Stannard,
the Cycle show catered for everyone.
Another great weekend, with some visitors purchasing 2XU Compression
for the first time, we are sure they will be back for more.
We will look forward to the event and the same success in 2010.
Noriyuki Haga leads the World Superbike
Championship in 2XU compression
The latest round of the World Superbike Championship was
held in Magny Cours in France over the weekend. Noriyuki Haga
now leads the World Championship by ten points after a second
place and a win in the two races on the weekend. Whilst this
might initially seem like a strange news story for a company
synonymous with triathlon, a close look at Noriyuki's collar
shows the World Championship leader wearing 2XU compression.
With it's many benefits for improved circulation as well as
post exercise recovery, 2XU compression is an obvious choice.
There are two races remaining and 50 points available so the
title is going to come down to the last race. Michel Fabrizio
guaranteed third place in the World Championship by his performance
on the weekend. Triathlon Consultants wish him all the best
with the remaining two races.
Triathlon Consultants at
Ironman World Championships 2009
Triathlon
Consultant's managing director Mike Trees was in Kona to watch
the Ironman World Championships. With Ceepo being the official
Ironman bike partner and the defending men's champion Craig
Alexander running in Newton's, Mike was there to see our award
winning brands in action with the world's finest triathletes.
Newton
Japan carried out the first 'shoe count' similar to the 'bike
count' that currently exists to gauge the popularity of brands
on Ironman finishers. The first 1,000 finishers had their shoe
brands recorded and the results were published exclusively on
Tri247.com. Newton Running shoes came 3rd in the survey with
11.1% of all runners which is a tremendous achievement for a
relavely new brand in the market. However, this isn't too surprising
as the world champion was wearing Newton shoes as he was crowned
Ironman World Champion for a second time! You can see the full
results of the survey on the Tri247.com
website.
A separate survey also carried out on Kona triathlete's shoes
found Newton Running shoes to be in 4th position with 146 athletes
wearing the. This survey can be viewed here.
On the established 'bike count' Ceepo was 16th which is great
to see and we're sure that this figure will continue to climb.
A further study into apparel saw 2XU tops, shorts and suits
all in 2nd position which was a fantastic result.
(The Ceepo, Newton Running and 2XU expo stands at the Ironman
World Championships in Kona)
Triathlon Consultants at Hever Castle Triathlon
The
last weekend in September brought the TCL team to the stunning
location of Hever Castle in Kent. Supporting Bat and Ball Sports
the event was a fantastic occasion for triathletes from complete
novices to the experienced to take part.
The
Anne Boleyn race brought a large number of newcomers, some more
prepared than others for the 16oC lake and then the Henry VIII
race provided a great opportunity for the experienced to get
an end of the season race in.
2XU Compression tights and calf guards were among the attire
for the occasion, with a very generous helping of 2XU tri suits
within the huge crowds. Ten Point were also present demonstrating
and selling Newtons to the triathletes of Kent.
A 1st in the Henry VIII event came from Tim Burdett of Tri Sport
News, then closely followed by Andrew Mercer of Thames Turbo.
A great day all round with some fantastic feedback will see
more Triathlon events coming to Hever Castle in 2010.
2XU at the Great Scottish Swim
TCL
sponsored Triathlete Richard Stannard and Loughborough University
and Welsh Team Swimmer Joe Canlan-Shaw, represented 2XU at the
Great Swim in Scotland.
A fantastic performance from Richard, battling through the cold,
choppy waters brought him 5th place. Joe, came in at 12th place,
a good solid performance after only dipping his toe into open
water territory this season.
The Great Swim series have brought a fantastic opportunity for
swimmers of all abilities to experience open water swimming
.
Toby Radcliffe Going for Green
Newton Running sponsored athlete Toby Radcliffe was featured
on The Sun website on Tuesday 29th September promoting the EDF
Energy Birmingham Half Marathon which is held on 11th October.
Toby is the Race Ambassador and is aiming to raise awareness
of climate change and have the event become the first accredited
'sustainable race' in Europe by the Council for Responsible
Sport.
And Toby is the ideal man for the job having studied natural
sciences at Cambridge, he has a Masters degree in sustainable
development. Toby highlights in the article that his Newton's
are made from recycled products, including the 100 per cent
recycled yarn shoe laces, and come in a recycled cardboard box.
Toby said "We are trying to set the standard for responsible
races and lead by example. "Mass participation sports offer
a forum for community action so we want more races to follow
in our footsteps and embrace a 'leave no trace' ethos."

Great Weekend for South West England Tri Team
The
South West England Tri Team were 6th overall beating among others
Wales. There was a great team atmosphere and with a lot of the
athletes at the bottom end of age groups they should be able
to shoot for a podium next year.
They received a number of comments about how good the 2XU trisuits
looked!
Triathlon Consultants Sponsor Tunbridge
Wells Half Marathon
The
award winning Children's Mutual Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon
will take place on Sunday 28th February 2010 and entries are
now officially open. The event is one of the highlights of the
racing calendar in the South East and comes just 7 weeks before
the Virgin London Marathon, making it an ideal warm up. Winner
of the prestigious Runners World 'Most Improved Event Award
2009' and organised by local club Tunbridge Wells Harriers,
the race attracts nearly 2000 entrants of all abilities and
is fast becoming considered one of the 'must do' events in the
area.
The single lap route takes in the rolling hills of the beautiful
Kentish countryside and is a challenging, yet fast course. Organisers
are delighted to announce that Dame Kelly Holmes will open the
event in 2010 and will be there to support her team of runners
from the newly launched charity, The
Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust. The event is organised purely
by volunteers and is non-profit making. All proceeds go to the
official race charities, of which the Cardiomyopathy
Association is confirmed so far. A charity chosen after
a club member and former race director was diagnosed with the
condition last year. In 2009, the race raised nearly £20,000
for the two official charities. Local firm and leading child
trust fund provider, The Children's Mutual, are delighted to
once again be title sponsor for the third year running.
A cash and prize pool to the value of £2,000 is already
up for grabs for the winners, and more will be added closer
to the event. In what is considered to be one of the best value
races on the circuit, all finishers receive a technical running
t-shirt, a bespoke medal and a goodie bag courtesy of Sainsburys,
Tunbridge Wells. Other event sponsors confirmed so far are 2XU
compression clothing, Newton
shoes, Triathlon
Consultants, StrideUK, The Courier Newspaper group, TAUT
sports drink and Strathmore water. Entries are available online
at www.twharriers.org.uk
and cost £21.50 for a non-affliated runner and £19.50
for a club runner. The race sold out in 2009 and runners are
encouraged to enter early to avoid disappointment. Entrants
are limited at 2,500.
Sichel joins Scottish team
for Commonwealth Championship
Orkney-based
ultra distance athlete, William Sichel (55), heads to Keswick
in Cumbria this week, to join up with the Scottish team participating
in the inaugural Commonwealth Mountain and Ultra Distance Championships
being held from September 17th - 20th.
This event comprises two ultra distance events - the 100km and
the 24 hour and two mountain races - an uphill only and an up
and down hill race.
Selected to represent Scotland in the 24 Hour road race, William
will form part of a 3 man Scottish team, competing against 8
other nations, on a 1km (0.6 mile) road lap around Fitz Park
in Keswick.
Facing the starter's gun at mid-day on Thursday the 17th, will
be 22 men and 23 women. The race runs through the night finishing
24 hours later at mid-day on Friday. Whoever covers the greatest
distance is the winner.
The team medals will be decided by the cumulative total distance
of the first three runners from each team.
William has a personal best for 24 hours on a road circuit of
153.3 miles, set in 2000 when winning the Basel 24 race in Switzerland,
which puts him 2nd on the Scottish all-time list.
"This will be the first time I have run in a team for 6 years,
so something quite different for me. This event is a really
historic occasion for the sport of Ultra Distance running and
may lead to Olympic inclusion in the future."
William recently won the Hull 24 hour track race in July and
has a recent best of 134.5 miles set in Austria two years ago.
Full details of the Commonwealth Mountain and Ultra Distance
Championships can be found here: www.cumbriacommonwealthchampionships.org/index.htm
To allow more people to be involved with the event William has
arranged for his web site to be updated during the race www.williamsichel.co.uk

Tri For Life
At
the Tri for Life weekend, Triathlon Consultants entered an "all
star Team" to race a 400m swim 20km bike and 5km run Richard
Stannard, fastest open water swimmer in the triathlon world,
and multiple aquathlon world Champion lead off in the swim.
He handed on a virtually unsalable lead after only 400m.
England rugby star Lawrence Delaglio took off on the bike and
his 18stone frame put some awesome power through the chain,
as he sped around the Dorny lake. He gave Mike Trees an easy
task to complete the 5km run. This was all in day's work for
the masters 10,000m running world champion.
However the aim was not to demoralise the opposition but for
everyone to raise as much money as possible for their chosen
charities. As you can see in the photo the all stars were racing
for the Emily Ash trust, (www.emilyashtrust.co.uk/)
who work tirelessly to raise money for children with Leukaemia
Ceepo at Eurobike 2009
Ceepo are at Eurobike, the trade and public show in Friedrichshafen,
Germany held between 2-5 September.

Get Ready for Triforlife!
Triathlon Consultants will be putting their money where their
mouth is on the 6th September and taking part in the Triforlife
triathlon at Dorney Lake near Windsor. This is a fantastic event
that raises money for several charities.
Also taking part are the eager triathlete's pictured here who
were honing their open water swimming techniques with the help
of World Champion Richard Stannard at the Open Water Swim lake
at Datchet. Triathlon Consultants Limited will also be making
a donation to the Emily Ash Trust who we support.
Mike Trees, managing director of Triathlon Consultants Limited
said "Triforlife is a great event and we're delighted to
be taking part and also pleased that so many people are also
participating and preparing properly with excellent equipment
like 2XU wetsuits and expert advice from Richard Stannard at
the UK's leading open water swimming venue."
Good luck to everybody who is taking part and raising money
for this excellent cause.
Ian Taplin and Rob Parkinson swim Gibraltar Strait
Triathlon
Consultants would like to congratulate Ian Taplin and Rob Parkinson
who recently completed a swim across the Gibraltar Strait.
The photograph shows them at the end of the Gibraltar Strait
in their 2XU E:1 wetsuits and union flags with the Coast of
Morocco in the background. They swam the crossing in 3 hrs 45
mins, a distance of about 18km. Ian said "We were pretty
lucky with the conditions though no doubt the E1's made a big
difference to our time. Mine fits like a glove, I don't even
notice I'm wearing it until we glide past people in their speedos!".
Mike Trees, managing director of Triathlon Consultants said
"It's alway great to receive feedback like this from people
who have achieved fantastic personal goals where our brands
have helped in that achievement. The E:1 is a excellent wetsuit
and we're really pleased that Ian and Rob recognised the benefits
a great wetsuit like this has to offer on a tough swim like
this."
If you've got a success story to tell us about your 2XU or Newton
Running shoes, we'd love to hear from you at marketing@triathlonconsultants.com.

Sichel rolls back the years in
Hull 24 hour Race
Orkney
based ultra distance athlete William Sichel, 55, won his first
24 hour race since January 2005 last weekend when completing
116 miles to win the men's race in Hull.
William
stuck to his race plan and gradually moved up the field as adverse
weather conditions affected the 45 starters. William took the
lead with about 3 hours to go and gradually pulled clear of
Scotland's Grant Jeans, and Sweden's Reima Hartikainen, eventually
winning by a margin of 8 miles.
Distances were greatly hampered by torrential rain throughout
the night and a very warm morning, that saw a lot of runners
pulling out prior to the finishing gun at 10:00am on Sunday
morning.
William said "Fantastic to win again at 24 hours, which ironically
is a bit short for me these days, now that I specialise in Multiday
Events"
With the inaugural Commonwealth Championships fast approaching
(17-20 September in Keswick) a number of athletes were making
last ditch attempts at reaching the National Selection Standards
but the weather conditions were not at all favourable.
William wears 2XU running and compression.

Big Cow Triathlon in Milton Keynes
Last
weekend the TCL team headed to Milton Keynes to support Phil
Corleys Cycles at yet another fantastic Big Cow Event, this
time a sprint and middle distance race were both taking place
on the same day.

Unlike the last event the weather could not have been better.
Maybe even a little too hot for some! In the sprint event it
was great news for Newton with Adam Bowden blowing the field
away with yet another storming run wearing his Newtons.
What made it even more spectacular was that he crashed just
on his way into transition and was bleeding throughout the run.
During the sprint 2XU
wetsuits were 1st and 2nd out of the water, then the two
lead men were both riding Ceepo
Venoms. The race was won by Joel Jameson from the Ceepo TFN
Team.
We like to think that it proves that if you want to be the best
you have to have the best kit.

2XU 2010 Summer Range
This
past weekend the TCL team headed to Germany to the European
distributor meeting of 2XU. What a trip! Many thought it wasn't
possible but the range has got even better thanks the visionary
eye of the 2XU design team headed up by Jamie (pictured).

Three new wetsuits in the range, new tri clothing and new colours
makes for a very exciting collection. Pre-sales will be commencing
very soon so if any retailers wish to view the collection please
do not hesitate to get in touch. We also liked this t-shirt
that one of our colleagues from Norway was wearing for 2XU Compression
- it means 'Don't believe in them until you try them on'
Watch this space for more information on the Summer 2010 range.
Busy Weekend of Triathlon Action
It
was a busy weekend on the Tri circuit with three major events
all falling on the same weekend; the Nokia Windsor Triathlon,
70.3 UK and Bala Middle Distance. It was a challenge we wanted
to meet ourselves so the Triathlon Consultants team split up
and headed off in different directions to help support the races
and our valued retailers; Royles, Tri UK and Total Fitness Bath.
At Windsor we had a great start with Mike Adams coming out of
the water with a 15sec lead wearing the award winning 2XU
V1 wetsuit. Then later in the race Adam Bowden ran through
the field in a pair of Newtons,
finishing the run 32min 28sec - just 1 second behind the winner.
Adam was running in a pair of Newton Distance shoes.
All three events went exceptionally well with the ever increasing
presence of 2XU
and Newton
Running on the athletes at each event. No matter if they
are the experienced athletes or a first timer. The brands are
suitable for all!
You can find your local 2XU
retailer here
and your local Newton
Running retailer here,
alternatively buy 2XU
online here
and Newton
Running online here.
Congratulations to everybody who took part in these three events,
we had a great weekend and hope you did too!
2XU Sponsor the Belgrave Bolt
Belgrave
Harriers are delighted to welcome their partners 2XU
who are sponsoring this year's Belgrave 5k road race - the 2XU
Belgrave Bolt 5k to be held on Sunday 9 August starting at 10am.
The race has been an August fixture for the past 15 years or
so, originally being purely a Surrey County 5k Championship
and one of the races that make up the Surrey Road League. In
2006 it appeared that the race might disappear from the calendar
so Belgrave Harriers stepped in to take over the organisation.
The race still incorporates a Surrey Championship for men and
women and is the final event in the Surrey Road League, but
it now also benefits from the incorporation of an Open Race
category with prizes generously provided by the race sponsors.
2XU
are the official compression partner to Belgrave Harriers and
were thrilled to be given this opportunity to closely support
this event. Managing Director of Triathlon Consultants (and
regular Belgrave runner himself) Mike Trees said "we were
delighted to be given this opportunity to further support Belgrave
and I'll be doing my best to win the race but know Belgrave
always turns out an excellent field, so I'll have my work cut
out!".
Although a newish event to the Belgrave fixture list, the race
is nevertheless run on roads raced over by Belgrave Harriers
since the 1920s and '30s. It covers the tough terrain of West
Wimbledon, with the climb to Christ Church at the top of Cottenham
Park Road being described by runners of old as, "The Kiss of
Death". Todays runners have to cover this section twice!
Ironman Lanzarote 2009
The
TCL team headed to Lanzarote for the notorious Ironman Lanzarote
2009. Now that Ceepo
is the official bike of Ironman the aim was to get the bikes
infront of the seasoned triathletes to hear what they thought
of them.
The response was FANTASTIC! Working along Pro Bike in La Santa,
the complete Ceepo range was on offer for viewing and testing.
During the race a few Ceepos were spotted (inc Robin Brew riding
one) which was great news in one of the first Ironman events
of 2009 with Ceepo as the official sponsor.
During the event the amount of Newtons
and 2XU
was also very prominent including Scott
Neyadli.
2XU appointed Official Compression Partner
of Australian Institute of Sport
MELBOURNE, May 20, 2009 - 2XU's high-performance compression
apparel has now been officially recognised as a world-class
collection, with the range being selected by pre-eminent sporting
body, the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).
Engineered from world class materials, 2XU Compression has proven
it's all about the fabric. Boasting circular knit structure,
a 50/70 Denier fabric for unparalleled strength and the most
accurate, graduated compressive design, 2XU supplies the premier
compression products on the market today.
AIS Senior Sport Physiologist (Fatigue and Recovery), Dr Shona
Halson, said that 2XU's compression collection truly represents
the pinnacle in high performance compression wear and is therefore
a worthy exclusive Official Compression Partner to the AIS.
"It's important for the AIS to partner with companies who
have a similar dedication to the pursuit of excellence and can
provide our athletes with top of the range, high performance
products. We are excited to be partnering with a company that
shares our values, understands the importance of research and
is committed to ongoing product development.
The AIS is always looking for the edge and together with 2XU
we will be conducting research into the physiological benefits
of compression products. This will feed into 2XU's product development,
and will help our athletes stay at the top of their game."
While compression has been used in the medical industry for
150 years, only recently have a number of research articles
and studies been published which confirm the benefits of wearing
compression garments both during and after exercise. With an
obsessive focus on delivering superior fabrics and tangible
benefits, 2XU has built a highly technical compression range
which reflects relentless research and development.
2XU Director of Sales and Marketing, Aidan Clarke, is thrilled
to be declared the Official Supplier of compression products
to the AIS.
"The selection as Official Compression Partner to the AIS
demonstrates our steadfast commitment to superior product development,
testing and garment research is paying off. We've worked hard
to develop a reputation for producing only the finest sporting
apparel in the market, and we're exceptionally proud of this,"
said Clarke.
With a superior researched design, 2XU Compression leads the
field in high performance compression. Compression is one of
the fastest growing segments of 2XU; a reflection of the world-class
fabrics used and ongoing feedback from elite athletes and leading
sports institutes around the world.

Ahead
of the 2009 Flora London Marathon, Mike Trees (who will be looking
for sub 2:30 on Sunday) and the Triathlon Consultants team have
been busy at the London Marathon Expo at ExCeL where there has
been tremendous interest in Newton
Running shoes and 2XU,
especially 2XU Compression. Mike himself will be racing on Sunday

The expo is proving to be an excellent opportunity to both meet
and discuss forefoot running with attendees as well as the numerous
benefits of 2XU's
medical grade compression range for racing and recovery.
Mike Trees, managing director of Triathlon Consultants said
"the London Marathon Expo is proving to be yet another
great opportunity for us to build on the growing brand awareness

provide wetsuits to the British Triathlon Federation Talent

the world including both current Olympic Gold Medallist's Emma
Snowsill and Jan Frodeno, and double World Aquathlon Champion
Richard Stannard; 2XU also welcome this opportunity to work
in partnership with Britain's finest triathletes.
This dynamic sponsorship articulates the ever-growing demand
for 2XU wetsuits in the international high performance sporting
niche. With official partners already including Welsh Triathlon
and Triathlon Scotland, 2XU's sponsorship with the British Triathlon

performance wetsuit range.
Zara Hyde Peters, CEO of British Triathlon said, "We are
delighted to enter into a partnership with such a well respected
triathlon brand as 2XU. We look forward to working with 2XU
as our Official Wetsuit Suppliers, and to them providing the

Triathlon Federation as they nurture our future Olympic and
World champions."
Triathlon Consultants Limited and 2XU are already official partners
to Welsh Triathlon and Triathlon Scotland and this agreement
completes their support of UK triathlon's official governing
bodies. Trees also hinted at the development of a new 2XU wetsuit
that would build on the award-winning V:1 wetsuit, the only
wetsuit to score 10/10 in 220 magazine's wetsuit tests.
National Duathlon
Championships
Sunday 5th April marked the first Championship race of 2009;
The National Duathlon Championships. It was a cold morning in
Milton Keynes but as the race started the sun came out and turned
it into a great day for all. It was great to see so many people
out racing in 2XU,
Newton
and Ceepo.
Highlights of the day included record breaking run splits being
done by the overall winner Adam Bowden in Newton
Running Shoes (setting a new course record for the 10km
in 00:30:03) and the Ladies winner Kat Grimmett who also ran
her way to victory in 2XU
Compression. The fastest women's bike leg was also achieved

Another Great Step for Evolution
On
Wednesday 18th The TCL team headed to Windsor, the home of a
relatively new and exciting Tri Club called Evolution.
Following the clubs hard Wednesday night run the purpose of
the evening was to talk to the club members about how they can
increase their performance using no extra effort.
As unbelievable as it may seem, you can go faster and recovery
quicker just by changing your kit. That's not to say that you
can get faster by wearing sports clothing in front of the TV
but when seconds count, shouldn't we all look for an advantage?
The 'Hot Topics' included the 2XU
compression range as well as Newton
Running Shoes.
Thanks goes to Kevin and Madie of Evolution for having us and
organising the talk. TCL wish you all the best in the forthcoming
season.

Last weekend the TCL team headed to David Lloyd in Hull where
3xTri
had organised a day of triathlon. 2XU Wetsuit testing was carried
out in their outside pool and Newton Running shoe gait analysis
was performed. The sun was shining and it was great to see so
many new people to the sport trying out the latest kit.
TCL would like to thank David Lloyd for having us and 3xTri
for organising such a great event.
Katie Price Chooses 2XU
There
has been widespread coverage in the press recently about Katie
Price's preparation and training for the 2009 Flora London Marathon.
Katie is training to run the Flora London Marathon in April
with her husband Peter Andre and together they are raising money
for The
Vision Charity. Katie is pictured here training in Los Angeles
wearing 2XU compression tights.
Mike Trees, Managing Director of Triathlon Consultants said
"We're delighted that Katie chose 2XU for her compression
clothing. 2XU Compression is perfect for anyone training for
distance events like the London Marathon and I'm sure it'll
help both her training performance and post-run recovery as
she prepares for the London Marathon. We wish her the best for
her preparations and hope she raises a lot of money and awareness
for charity."

Wetsuit Testing in Ireland
This weekend saw the TCL team head to Ireland where a new store
'Tri Zone' hosted the first wetsuit testing session for 2009.
Conor, owner of Tri Zone rounded up all the local triathletes
and had them testing out the 2XU wetsuit range in a local pool.
It was a great success and superb to see that the 2009 season
already kicking off. Many were amazed as to the buoyancy and
flexibility of the V1 and where very grateful to have experienced
what they had been missing out on until now!
TCL wish all the triathletes of Athlone a great 2009 season.
We hope you smash your swim PBs with the aid of 2XU wetsuits.
Sussex Beacon Half Marathon
Triathlon
Consultants would like to thank Stride
UK a recent new stockist of Newton Running shoes who were busy this weekend promoting Newtons
to all 6,000 participants who were competing in the Sussex Beacon
Half Marathon. Stride UK alongside their sister company Studio
57 were providing the sports therapy for all of the participants.
Whilst treating tired legs they were busy informing the athletes
about Newtons and the necessary strengthening and flexibility
programs required to be able to run faster and adapt into a
more efficient way to run.
Stride
UK, utilises 360 degree full postural video gait analysis
to assess running techniques, improve performance and reduce
the likeliness of wear and tear of injuries occurring. For many
years, the only way that athletes improved their running performance
is by running more. It's not until recently that various running
techniques have been investigated to develop a better, a safer
and a more efficient way to run. Triathlon Consultants are happy
to endorse the Stride
UK programs for improving your running form.
Congratulations to all those who took part in the race. Keep
on Running, The TCL Team.

"We're really pleased to welcome another three retailers
on-board with Newton Running shoes. With Newton's recent win
at the 220 awards for Innovative Product of the Year, it's great
news that there are more and more stores throughout the UK where
runners can try the shoes for themselves and buy".
Newton Running win Prestigious
220 Award
If
you're a regular reader of the running and triathlon press,
then you'd be hard pressed to have missed the arrival of Newton
Running shoes in the UK, with their vivid colours and unique
Active Membrane Technology, Newton's have taken the UK running
scene by storm.
This commitment to running excellence was recognised and rewarded
on Saturday 7th February 2009 when Newton Running Shoes were
awarded the Triathlon 220 Magazine award for 'Innovative Product
of the Year', a rightly deserved accolade for a range of shoes
that were designed to improve both posture as well as speed.
The Newton Running stand at the TCR exhibition on 7th - 8th
February was one of the most popular at the show, with many
visitors keen to see if what they had read about Newton's was
true. With both treadmill and hard surface areas available to
test the shoes, the feedback was a tremendous thumbs-up. Outselling
much bigger running brands over the weekend, it would seem that
Newton's really do live up to the hype.
Mike Trees, Managing Director of Triathlon Consultants said
"We are really pleased that Newton Running shoes have
been given this award just six months after their UK launch.
We've had a great weekend at the TCR show and being able to
chat to a lot of runners and triathletes about the shoes is
just as rewarding to us as winning the 220 award."

trisuits and wetsuits. Mike Trees, Managing Director of Triathlon

Newton Cure Distance Raises Money
for Charity
Triathlon Consultants, the award-winning UK distributor of Newton
Running shoes is proud to announce that they will make a donation
to Newton's US prostate cancer charity for every pair of The
Cure Distance shoes they import in 2009. In addition, for
every pair of The
Cure Distance sold in the UK they will make a donation to
UK cancer charity The Emily
Ash Trust, whose aim is to help improve the lives of children
who are suffering from cancer.
The
Cure Distance running shoe is a limited edition and instantly
noticeable in bright pink. The shoe was created to support prostate
cancer research. Newton Co-Founder, Jerry Lee has battled with
prostate cancer since 2005 and is now a survivor.
The
Cure Distance was built to be the world's fastest tempo
training and racing flat for runners with neutral to high arched
foot types. The shoe offers greater flexibility in the mid-foot
region and its forefoot flex groove allows the feet to work
naturally as if barefoot - with maximum protection against ground
forces. Neutral to high arched feet also have an ability to
be great propulsive levers when combined with the Newton Active
Membrane Technology in the forefoot.
Emily Ash Trust Patron, Robbie Earle MBE, one of ITV's leading
sports personalities said "The Newton Pink racer was
designed not just for running, but also to help raise money
for charity, if you are considering buying one, please do, as
Newton Running will pledge some of the cost from this shoe to
the Emily Ash Trust...thanks." Robbie

Thames Tow Path 50 mile Ultra
Marathon
On
Saturday 17th January, Triathlon Consultants Sales Manager,
Mike Martin, completed the Thames Tow Path 50 mile Ultra Marathon,
a fantastic achievement.
The fact that the Visit
Thames website listed only a start time and no finish time
was enough to tell you this was not a race for the faint-hearted!
But anything less wouldn't have been challenging enough for
a man whose idea of 'popping over to America' involves picking
up an oar and rowing across!
We caught up with Mike (who the following Monday was back in
the office as if he'd just finished a 10-mile training run)
and asked him about this incredible event...
"Since rowing the Atlantic last year I thought it was time to
set myself to a new challenge. With the launch of Newton Running
this year I though what better challenge than running 50 miles
along the Thames from Reading to Shepperton (in Newton's of
course).
I would strongly recommend racing Ultra to anyone. It is totally
unlike any racing I had done before, the mixture of mental and
physical strength come into play and test even the most experienced
of athletes.
The knowledge, and experience that you can push yourself so
much further and harder than most people would conceive, makes
it easy to be confident and undaunted when faced by a big challenge."
Mike's essential equipment:
Newton
Gravity Trainers - (No blister, no foot pain. The returned
energy from the shoes helped me to the very end)
2XU
Elite Compression Tights - (No rubbing, no cramp and fast
recover)
2XU
Long Sleeve Compression Top - (Superb support to the upper
body with excellent moisture management)
2XU
Active Run Vest - (Breathability combined with wind-proofing,
exceptionally comfortable)
Mike Trees, Managing Director of Triathlon Consultants said
"Congratulations to Mike on a fantastic achievement, this
is another great example of how our brands complement one another
to totally equip athletes for peak performance".
Keep on Running and Running and
Running!
Triathlon
Consultants would like to congratulate outstanding Ultra Runner
William Sichel on his tremendous victory at the "Across
the Years" 72 Hour race in Phoenix, Arizona (December 29th
2008 - January 1st 2009). William completed the 433,5 km (269.36
miles) in 72 hours. Mike Trees, Managing Director of Triathlon
Consultants said "William's victory in Arizona is an
inspiration to runners everywhere, demonstrating the extraordinary
achievements the human body is capable of. We are proud that
William wears 2XU, a brand dedicated to giving athletes like
William the equipment they need to magnify their natural ability".
Well done William!

New Retailers stock Newton
Running shoes
Triathlon Consultants Limited, the award winning distributor
of Newton Running in the UK is pleased to welcome on-board The
Edge Sports in Ireland and Ten
Point in Buckinghamshire. Both shops will be stocking the
popular Newton Running brand in their stores and available for
purchase online.
Newton Running shoes were developed to make the runners feet
think they're barefoot and this increases performance. The sole
of a Newton shoe mimics your own, allowing the foot to move
freely and promote a forefoot impact. When you forefoot strike
with a Newton running shoe the actuator lugs stretch a membrane
as they are pushed from the outer sole into the chambers of
the mid-sole. As you begin to push off after striking, the membrane
returns to its original shape pushing the actuators out from
the mid-sole and returning the energy into forward propulsion.
Mike Trees, Managing Director of Triathlon Consultants said
"It's fantastic to welcome a further two retailers on-board.
Newton Running shoes are really taking off in the UK as more
people realise the performance and health benefits they provide,
we look forward to a long relationship with both stores"

Ceepo at Ironman Western Australia
Gina FERGUSON (NZ-female professional triathlete) won Ironman
Western Australia on 8th December in 2008! She did the fastest
bike split of the day 4:58:12!
The bike Gina rides is the Ceepo
KILLER 650C. Here is her comment: "I am so happy to win
Ironman Western Australia and this completes a great year for
me, with two ironman distance victories both in course records
(Ironman Western Australia and Challenge Wanaka), a top 10 finish
in Hawaii, and two sub 9 hour performances (at Ironman Western
Australia and at Challenge Roth). I was so happy to win this
race despite having to deal with several problems including
being stung by a jellyfish just before the start of the race
and racing for 100km with a broken aero bar. This may have stopped
me racing a PB but not from winning the race. I have been working
very hard at my cycling the last month and I won this race with
my fast bike split. Thank-you Ceepo for giving me the best bike
in the sport to enable me to win."
Also, congratulations to Simon BILLEAU (France) who finished
5th. it was his first ever Ironman! His bike time is 04:27:08.
Simon rides the Ceepo
Venom.

Newton Running Launches in the
UK
Triathlon Consultants, the award-winning UK distribution company
headed up by former elite athlete Mike Trees, are to be the
official UK & Ireland distributors for fast growing running
shoe brand, Newton Running (www.newtonrunning.co.uk).
The brand, worn by athletes such as Michellie Jones, Craig Alexander
and Natascha Badmann was specifically sought out by Mike: "we
feel that Newton Running completes our portfolio, with 2XU (clothing
and wetsuits), and Ceepo (bikes), we now have what we feel are
complimentary brands which provide the highest quality to athletes.
We only want to work with products we believe in".
Mike has been putting the shoes to good use himself recently:
"I truly believe in the forefoot/midfoot approach to running,
and this is enhanced by the Newton shoes. I recently ran under
9 minutes for 3000m for the first time in many years using the
shoes, and all of our testing suggests they are worth around
one second per lap for me personally, others have reported greater
benefits".
The tie-up with Triathlon Consultants will be officially launched
at the Hawaii Ironman, and the shoes will be widely available
in the UK from October. In addition to the current range of
stability and cushioning shoes, a new cross-country / off-road
shoe will also be launched around this time, which will be perfect
for the UK winter.
Newton shoes have very quickly gained popularity with triathletes
in the US, with some Ironman events reporting that 20% of athletes
are racing in the shoes. For more information, contact info@triathlonconsultants.com
