Cambridge University Rugby Union Football Club (CURUFC)
was officially founded in 1872, some three years later
than Oxford University RFC.
Since the first match played that year the Varsity match,
played each year in early December has arguably grown
into the most famous amateur rugby game in the world.
On the 127 occasions the match has been played Cambridge
have won 60 times and Oxford 53.

Cambridge has had many international representatives play
in the light blue, such as Rob Andrew (England and British
Lion), Gavin Hastings (Scotland and British Lion's captain)
and most recently Australian Dan Vickerman led Cambridge
to the 31-27 win on 10th December, 2009.
